About Me

Hello everyone,
Salam!

My name is Eshete Berju. I was born in a small village on the lower part of the Simien Mountains National Park, called Mulit. This place offers one of the most spectacular views of the Simien Mountains where some of the standing Hawaza rocks could be seen closely.

I grew up and completed high school in Debark, where the National Park headquarters is located. Afterwards I continued my education at the University of Hawasa in the southern part of Ethiopia, where I did my Degree in Applied Mathematics.

Having always been passionate about studying tourism, I did so in Gondar for two years, and achieved my tour guide qualification in 2009. In addition to my studies in tourism I got training focusing on tourism, environment protection and first aid provided by some NGOS, such as EWCA(Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Association), JICA(Japan International Cooperative Agency), AWF(African Wildlife Foundation) and ADP(Austrian Development project).

I have been working as a local tour guide in the Simien Mountains for the last five years and even have experience with guiding to the other places in North Ethiopia, like Gondar, Lalibela, Axum.

I met many tourists from all over the world and really enjoy showing to people the beauty of Ethiopian nature, wildlife and culture. Although I am walking the same routes for many years now, the mountains impress me with its pristine beauty and special animals again and again.

Believing that I have acquired lots of guiding experience and knowledge I am now able to organize trips everywhere in the country for anyone who is interested to visit Ethiopia.

I am looking forward to meet you in my country,
Yours Eshete
