Birds
No other aspect of Ethiopians biology typifies its unique situation than its variety of birds. Over 180 species have been recorded in the Simien. These include an unusually large number of prey and carrion eaters.
One of the most spectacular is the Lammergeier or bearded vulture, with over a 3 meter wingspan. Other common varieties are the auger buzzard, Egyptian vulture, wattled ibis, large billed raven and the white collared pigeon.
